Product & License Grant
Capacity Design of CB Frames (CDCBF) is a Windows desktop application for seismic steel brace capacity design per AISC 341/360 and ASCE 7.
Upon payment, we grant you a perpetual, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use the software on one (1) computer (Standard plan). The license key is delivered by email immediately after payment.
No physical goods are shipped. You receive a license key and access to downloads from your customer account. Delivery is digital and instantaneous.
Third-Party Software Requirements (SAP2000)
Capacity Design of CB Frames communicates with your SAP2000 structural model via the SAP2000 COM API. SAP2000 Version 23 or later is required to run this software.
This license does not include SAP2000. Purchasing CDCBF does not grant you any rights to use SAP2000, CSI products, or any other software. You are solely responsible for obtaining a valid, commercial license for SAP2000 directly from Computers and Structures, Inc. (CSI).
By purchasing and using this software, you represent and warrant that you hold a valid commercial license for SAP2000. We take no responsibility whatsoever for any use of CDCBF in conjunction with an unlicensed or unauthorized copy of SAP2000. Any such use immediately terminates your license without refund.
Permitted & Prohibited Use
You may use Capacity Design of CB Frames for your own internal structural engineering calculations. The following are strictly prohibited:
- Redistribution: Do not distribute, share, or make the software or license key available to any third party, whether for free or for payment.
- Resale: Do not resell, rent, lease, or lend the software or license key.
- Reverse engineering: Do not decompile, disassemble, reverse-engineer, or attempt to derive the source code by any means.
- Modification: Do not modify, adapt, translate, or create derivative works.
- Transfer: Do not transfer the license key to another person or device without our prior written consent.
- AI training: Do not use the software, its outputs, or documentation to train, fine-tune, or distil any machine-learning model.
- Copyright removal: Do not remove, alter, or obscure any copyright, trademark, or proprietary-rights notices.
Any violation terminates your license immediately without notice and without refund.
Professional Responsibility
Capacity Design of CB Frames is a calculation aid, not a substitute for professional judgement. The engineer of record is solely responsible for verifying all results, applying appropriate engineering judgement, and meeting all applicable code requirements. We make no warranty that the software is suitable for any particular project.
Warranty & Support
We warrant that the software will perform materially as described for 12 months from purchase. During this period you are entitled to:
- Free updates released during the warranty period
- Email support for technical issues
After 12 months the license remains valid but support and updates are not included unless renewed. No other warranty is given.
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim arising from the software shall not exceed the amount you paid for the license. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including lost profits or design errors.
EU Consumer Rights — 14-Day Withdrawal Waiver Directive 2011/83/EU Art. 16(m)
Directive 2011/83/EU Art. 16(m) permits suppliers of digital content to exclude the 14-day right of withdrawal where the consumer has given explicit prior consent and acknowledged the loss of that right before supply begins.
By ticking the consent box at checkout you give that consent. You expressly acknowledge that:
- The digital license will be delivered immediately after payment
- You waive your 14-day right of withdrawal
- You may not claim a refund after the license key has been delivered on this basis
Defective or misdescribed products remain subject to Italian consumer law (D.Lgs. 206/2005).
Refund Policy
Because the digital license is delivered immediately and the 14-day withdrawal right is waived at checkout, we do not offer refunds except where required by mandatory consumer protection law — for example, if the software is materially defective and we cannot remedy it within a reasonable time.

Intellectual Property
